Welcome to the Game III Key Search Guide

A systematic four-surface key-search routine with full-hash handling, failure recovery, and an explicit non-exhaustive boundary.

Table of Contents

Keys are not limited to obvious text in the middle of a page. The practical search problem is learning a fixed inspection order so you do not leave a site after checking only its first screen.

Patch and verification scope: Search method compiled July 20, 2026. The detailed gameplay guide predates Patch 1.0.3. Official patch changes are included where documented, but this site has not independently replay-tested the route on 1.0.3. This method is not an all-locations map.

Mode: written for the checkpoint-backed Normal route; other-mode key differences are not independently verified. Prerequisite: finish the tutorial and know how to open the A.N.N. browser and its source viewer. Spoilers: site names, search surfaces, and later Wiki access. Success signal: you have captured the complete numbered hash, not merely found a page that might contain one.

The four-surface search order

Order Surface What to do When to move on
1 Visible text Read headings, labels, small footer copy, and unusual strings You have scanned the full page, not only the center column
2 Clickable or hover targets Move across words, buttons, and empty-looking areas for a cursor change Every plausible text region has been tested once
3 Images Check large images, thumbnails, televisions, and image-like controls Each image and linked variant has been inspected
4 Page source Open the A.N.N. source viewer and search for the full key string The complete source has been checked, not just the first match

Run the order the same way on every candidate site. Consistency is faster than randomly revisiting the most visually interesting element.

Capture the complete key

The third-party editorial guide describes eight numbered keys. When you find one:

  1. Record the key number and the entire hash together.
  2. Preserve capitalization and punctuation exactly as displayed.
  3. Keep the site name beside the record so you can return if decryption fails.
  4. Mark whether the key has been decrypted.
  5. Do not overwrite the raw value with a memory-based abbreviation.

Finding 3 - … is not the same as owning a usable third key if the rest of the hash was clipped or omitted. The completion route depends on assembling the full set in the expected order.

Use Key Cue as a filter, not an answer

The third-party item guide describes Key Cue as a signal that the current website can contain a key. Treat the cue as permission to perform the full four-surface search. It does not mean the key must be visible on the landing page.

If the cue appears and you cannot find anything:

  1. scroll to every page boundary;
  2. test text and image hotspots;
  3. inspect the page source;
  4. return during the site's reported opening window if it is time-limited.

Move between the Wikis

The official game description confirms that the search spans websites and page source. The systems guide reports that additional Wiki links can arrive through A.C.R.S.

Patch 1.0.3 changed request ordering so A.C.R.S. should ask for initial-Wiki sites before later-Wiki sites. If a later link has not appeared:

  1. complete or preserve useful initial-Wiki requests;
  2. ping relevant contacts before the public chat resets;
  3. recheck A.C.R.S. rather than repeatedly searching a Wiki you have exhausted;
  4. avoid treating one missing message as proof the run is impossible.

Failure and recovery

Failure signal Recovery
Cue present, no visible key Finish the four-surface routine before leaving
Site is offline Use the website-time guide and return in the next reported window
A hotspot does nothing Confirm the page and patch; Patch 1.0.3 specifically addressed a Doughy conflict
You found an unnumbered fragment Keep searching; do not file it as a completed key
The hash was copied incompletely Revisit the exact site/page and replace the record with the full value
You have eight raw entries but cannot finish Check numbering, duplicates, and decryption state before searching for a ninth key

Decryption and completion handoff

The third-party editorial guide reports that finding the raw hashes is not the last task. Keep the relevant A.C.R.S. contact available, decrypt the keys, verify that all eight numbered entries are ready, then move to the Normal walkthrough's merge and submission phase.
