Welcome to the Game III Hacking Minigames Guide

Community-reported controls and practical solve loops for the five Steam-named hacking families, with generated-layout and patch limits.

The five hacking families test different skills: exact typing, row reading, network movement, spatial planning, and shape matching. This guide gives the reported controls and a repeatable solve loop for each one.

Patch and verification scope: Community instructions compiled July 20, 2026. The detailed player sources predate Patch 1.0.3, which increased non-jumpscare hacking audio by 20 percent. This site has not independently replay-tested the minigames on 1.0.3. Generated layouts can still differ.

Mode: the controls are community-reported for the released game; exact difficulty scaling between modes is not independently verified. Prerequisite: identify the hack family and use the bindings shown by your current UI. Spoilers: all five hack families, their objectives, and reported failure behavior.

Steam's achievement labels and in-game/community spellings do not always match. The headings below use the Steam-recognizable family names; the body mentions common interface stylizations where useful.

No row in the table is a fixed generated solution. It tells you how to operate the board you receive.

KernalCompiler

Community pages often stylize this as K3RN3LC0MP1L3R. It is the typing family.

  1. Read the full highlighted line before typing.
  2. Copy every character exactly, including case and punctuation.
  3. If the interface marks the mismatch in red, press Backspace until the incorrect suffix is removed.
  4. Re-enter the corrected characters.
  5. Press Enter to submit the current line.
  6. Repeat until the final corrupted block is cleared.

Failure signal: the timer expires or inaccurate input is left unresolved. Recovery: correct red text immediately instead of typing past it. Success signal: the final line is accepted and the attack is blocked.

The method remains accuracy first; this page does not publish a generated text answer because the prompt can change.

MEMDeallacator

Community interfaces also use memDEALLOCATER. Read the approaching row by the green safe area:

  • green on the left: press A or Left Arrow;
  • green on both sides: press Space;
  • green on the right: press D or Right Arrow.

Ordered routine:

  1. Identify the active bottom row.
  2. Read the next row before committing the current input.
  3. Press the key that matches the green area.
  4. Re-center on the new bottom row as the board advances.
  5. Continue until the top progress bar fills.

Failure signal: a wrong input reduces the progress bar. Recovery: slow down for one row, re-establish the left/both/right mapping, then resume reading one row ahead. Success signal: the progress bar fills and the attack is blocked.

ShiftSeq

ShiftSeq is a network-grid defense. Your home node is the resource and defense anchor; infected nodes are the targets.

  1. Locate home and every infected node before leaving the center.
  2. Move with W, A, S, and D toward a nearby infected node.
  3. While on the target, press Space repeatedly to reduce its health.
  4. Watch the battery/resource display and return home before it empties.
  5. At home, wait for the expanding pulse to overlap the solid node outline, then press Space for the reported active recharge.
  6. Defend home when an incoming attack reaches its perimeter.
  7. Repeat until every infected node is gone.

Community reports say standing inside an infected node blocks that node's attack, while an unblocked attack reaching home removes connection health.

Failure signal: home health falls repeatedly or a mistimed active recharge temporarily disables recharging. Recovery: take the shortest route home, use a normal recharge if necessary, and choose a nearer next target. Success signal: all infected nodes are destroyed while connection health remains.

Stack Pusher

Stack Pusher is a generated grid. Move every stack node into the central delete node without entering laughing-skull cells.

  1. Find the delete node, pusher node, movable stacks, and skull hazards.
  2. Left-click the pusher to pick it up, then left-click a safe destination.
  3. Keep the target stack inside the pusher's reported surrounding 3 × 3 area.
  4. Left-click the stack and then its next safe square.
  5. Reposition the pusher when the stack must leave the current area.
  6. Move one stack at a time into the delete node.
  7. Recalculate after every move; do not reuse a route after the board changes.

Failure signal: moving a pusher or stack onto a skull is reported as an immediate loss. Recovery: before picking up a node, trace its destination and the next pusher position; on a new board, solve from the delete node backward. Success signal: every stack reaches the delete node.

TOKEN9

Community pages often call the interface TOKENINE. Rebuild the target token from the available pieces.

  1. Study the target before clicking.
  2. Read the small count indicators to learn how many pieces the token requires.
  3. Break the target into distinctive edges, gaps, and repeated marks.
  4. Compare all candidates before selecting the first piece.
  5. Left-click the required pieces before the between-selection timer expires.
  6. If another target appears, reset your visual comparison and repeat.

Selections are reported as irreversible until the game checks the assembled token. A wrong set clears and lets you try again; waiting too long without a selection can end the attempt.

Failure signal: the pieces clear after an incorrect combination or the timer expires. Recovery: change the ambiguous piece first and keep confirmed segments. Success signal: the final token is accepted and no further target appears.

What to do when a hack starts

  1. Identify the family before making rapid inputs.
  2. Recall only its input map: typing, three-way row choice, WASD, grid clicks, or token pieces.
  3. Find the board's success meter or remaining-target count.
  4. Make one deliberate action and confirm the expected change.
  5. Use the family-specific recovery above rather than switching to random input.

Physical threats can still matter while you are focused on the computer. An active hack is not proof that the motel is safe.

Limits

This guide does not claim:

  • fixed generated layouts or typing strings;
  • universal timers or mode scaling;
  • an exhaustive future roster;
  • exact DOS Coin rewards or penalties;
  • that a firewall, NOP Sled, or Backdoor is always better than playing the minigame;
  • independent completion of every family on Patch 1.0.3.
